M3A3 M5 M5A1 Stuart

This study is a continuation of the Light Tank M3 “Stuart” monograph, which was published in 2016 (Military No. 430). Currently, the Light Tanks M3A3, M5 and M5A1 will be presented, which are the development of earlier versions: M3 and M3A1.

As with the Medium Tank M4, production of a new generation of light tanks began during the war. The modification of the standard Light Tank M3 consisted in upgrading the armor and replacing the engine, because the Continental W670 aircraft carburetor engine powering the M3 tanks was considered unsuitable, moreover, the same engine powering the M4 medium tanks was similarly assessed, and the final stage of development of the M4 tank was the creation of the M4A3 powered by FORD GAA engine – (Militaria No. 542), photos, color profiles, organization charts and scale drawings, Polish text, English captions
