The medium tank Panzekampfwagen IV Sd Kfz 161/1/2 was the basic tank of the German army. It was the main armament of Panzerwaffe and Waffen-SS units fighting in 1939-1945.

“Fours” were the most produced German tanks during World War II. This study presents tanks of two final versions – PzKpfw IV Sd Kfz 161/2 Ausf. HJ guns armed with a 7.5 cm KwK 40 L/48 cannon, produced in 1943–1945. These versions constituted the final stage of development of the PzKpfw IV tank. All experience from the current operation in the field of vehicle design, strengthening and improvement of passive protection (armor) and armament was used. The most important, however, were the technological changes that enabled a truly large-scale production, of course incomparable to the achievements of the Soviet Tankgrads and the huge armor industry in the USA, which produced many times more tanks per month than all the armored factories of the Third Reich per year.
