PzKpfw. V Panther Vol. 1
tankpower 1Author’s Note
First, I’d like to thank my colleague, Karlheinz Miinch, and Mr. Randolf Kugler for allowing me to use many photographs and other materials, without which writing this book would be impossible. Through continuous search of my other colleague, Wolfgang Anton, I was able to get new material concerning the infra-red equipment used in conjunction with Panther tanks. Thomas Anderson gave me photos of his Panther model, a truly modeller’s masterpiece. I’d also like to thank my friend, Jerzy Jézwik, for allowing me to use many valuable photographs and his most valuable critique of the manuscript. In this series I would present various types of German WW?2 armament. It will mostly concern tanks, artillery, rockets etc. Other interesting and less known items from this period, radar devices and secret weapons will all also find their places in the series, of course.
These publications will contain much more drawings than usual, and what more important, all drawings will be computer-generated, to enhance the detailing. As for the Panther tank, I tried to make a drawing for each and every type, all succeeding modifications of the production version and projects. Unfortunately, I started my drawing in the proverbial inverted order, and the first completely drawing-illustrated type was the last modification of the Panther tank, the Ausf.G. Even though it defies the natural chronological order, these will be published first. All drawings amendments and supplements will be published in the last part of the Panther monograph. I’d like to ask you to participate in filling-in the blanks. There are quite a number of these, concerning the Panther tank, especially when it comes to the IR gear and other gadgets. Of course, I will welcome your help on other topics as well. I’m willing to co-operate and exchange materials with other people of similar interests.
